Split a PDF into single pages, or extract a page range — page count is read from the file before you choose. Free, private, runs in your browser.
Steps and notes
What is PDF Split?
PDF split has two common shapes. Split-to-pages turns an N-page document into N single-page PDFs — useful when only one page of a report needs to go to a client, or when a scanner produced a batch that must be filed separately. Extract-range keeps pages X to Y as one new document — the shape for "give me chapter 2" or trimming a signed contract to the pages that matter. Both copy original page objects, so quality is unchanged.
- Select a PDF file
- Pick a mode — one file per page, or a page range
- Download the results
- Page count is read from the file before you choose a mode, so the range inputs can never go out of bounds
Frequently asked questions
- Why is each split page larger than the original divided by pages?
- Every output file carries its own copy of shared resources (fonts, images on that page) plus a fresh document structure. The per-file overhead is small but real — splitting a 1 MB 50-page scan into 50 files yields slightly more than 1 MB total.
- Can I split an encrypted PDF?
- Files with an owner password (restrictions on copy or print) load with restrictions ignored. Files requiring a user password to open cannot be processed — the browser never sees the decrypted content.
- How do I reassemble pages in a different order?
- Split to single pages first, then feed the pages into the merge tool in the order you want — the two tools are designed to be used together this way.
