JSON to CSV

Converts a JSON array into a CSV table for Excel or a data-analysis tool.

Convert JSON to CSV with automatic header detection.

Steps and notes

What is JSON to CSV?

CSV is still the common language of spreadsheets. This tool takes a JSON array of objects — the shape most APIs return — and maps each object to a row, with the keys becoming column headers. Data moves from an API response into Excel, Numbers or a BI tool without writing a conversion script.

  1. Paste the JSON array
  2. Check the auto-detected column headers
  3. Copy or download the CSV
  • Nested objects are flattened or stringified; for deeply structured JSON it helps to tidy it first

Frequently asked questions

What happens to nested objects and arrays?
CSV has only flat rows. Nested values are flattened or stringified (an object becomes JSON text inside the cell). For deeply nested data, reshape the JSON first — the formatter helps you see the structure before converting.
How are the column headers decided?
From the keys of the objects in the array. If objects have different keys, the union is used and missing cells stay empty.
Will Excel open the result correctly?
For normal text, yes. Watch out for values starting with = (Excel treats them as formulas) and very long numbers turning into scientific notation. Importing the downloaded file is safer than copy-paste.
