YAML to TOML — Guide
Parse and convert YAML to TOML.
What it is and when to use it
Convert YAML configuration into TOML. Typical situation: a tool or language ecosystem expects TOML (Cargo, pyproject.toml, Netlify) while your notes or templates are in YAML — paste one side, copy the other, with nested structures mapped to TOML tables.
Converts YAML into TOML format, for configuration migrations.
How to use it
- Paste the YAML
- Get the TOML result
- Copy and use it

Questions people ask
- How do nested YAML maps become TOML?
- Nested mappings become TOML table headers ([section], [section.sub]). The output stays readable, but very deep nesting produces long dotted table names — that is the format's nature, not a bug.
- What about YAML lists and mixed types?
- Lists map to TOML arrays; lists of maps become arrays of inline tables ([{...}]). Homogeneous lists survive perfectly; exotic mixes may change shape slightly.
- Are YAML anchors and multi-line strings converted?
- Anchors are resolved to their values during parsing — the TOML output is always anchor-free. Block scalars become ordinary strings with the newlines preserved.
