TOML to YAML — Guide
Parse and convert TOML to YAML.
What it is and when to use it
Convert TOML into YAML — the direction you need when a Rust or Python project file must become a CI variable file, a Kubernetes-adjacent config, or simply a format your teammates can eyeball. TOML tables map to nested YAML mappings, arrays of tables to YAML lists.
Converts TOML configuration into YAML, for migrating between configuration formats.
How to use it
- Paste the TOML
- Get the YAML result
- Copy and use it

Questions people ask
- What happens to [tool.x] style table headers?
- Each dotted header becomes the equivalent nested mapping, so [tool.pytest] turns into tool: pytest: {...}. Round-tripping back to TOML reproduces the original structure.
- Are arrays of tables supported?
- Yes — [[products]] style arrays become YAML lists of mappings, which is the standard way to express the same data in YAML.
- Why does the YAML output quote some values?
- YAML has many implicit-type pitfalls (the Norway problem: "no" parses as false). Emitting quotes where the type could be ambiguous keeps the converted document faithful to the TOML types.
