SVG placeholder generator — Guide
Generate svg images to use as a placeholder in your applications.
What it is and when to use it
Generate SVG placeholder images — set dimensions, colours and optional text, and embed the URL or markup in your layout while real assets are still in flight. SVG stays crisp at any size and the file is a few hundred bytes, so mockups stop breaking on missing images.
Generates an SVG placeholder of a given size — faster and more reliable than an external placeholder service when building skeleton screens.
How to use it
- Enter the width and height
- Set the text and colours as needed
- Copy the SVG or its data URI

Questions people ask
- Why SVG instead of a PNG placeholder service?
- No network dependency and no fixed resolution: an inline SVG data URI renders instantly and stays sharp at any DPI. For wireframes and CI screenshots, self-hosted placeholders are also more private.
- How do I embed the result?
- Either as an image src pointing to the generated SVG URL/data URI, or inline as markup so you can style it with CSS. The tool gives you both forms.
- Can I customise the label text?
- Yes — the placeholder can carry text (dimensions by default, or your own label), which makes it obvious in review which slot each image belongs to.
