Emoji picker — Guide

Copy and paste emojis easily and get the unicode and code points value of each emoji.

What it is and when to use it

Browse and search the emoji set, then copy either the emoji itself, its Unicode escape or its code points. Handy for picking the right glyph in UI copy, README badges or commit messages, and for resolving "which character is this exactly" when an emoji renders differently across platforms.

Search and copy emoji, and look up their Unicode code points.

How to use it

  1. Type a keyword in the search box (e.g. smile)
  2. Click the emoji you need
  3. Copy the character or its Unicode encoding

A worked example

Questions people ask

Why does an emoji look different on my colleague's phone?
Each platform draws emoji with its own font. The code point is the standard; the artwork is not. Copying the code point guarantees you mean the same character, not the same look.
What is a code point and why do some emojis show two?
Characters outside the BMP are written as surrogate pairs in JavaScript, so one emoji can span two code units. Flags and skin-tone variants also combine several code points into one glyph.
Can I search by description?
Yes — search by keyword to find emoji by meaning instead of scrolling. Searching "fire" beats hunting for the flame glyph by eye.
